My other confession is that my tomato plant (or possibly plants) are not going to survive. The plant was doing great until last week when I noticed several shriveled leaves and many more leaves discolored with yellow and brown spots. After a week of observation the plant is only worse, so today we took a sample to a professional gardener. The gardener confirmed what my own internet searching had found: the tomato plant is infected with a fungus and there is no cure. I was given instruction to trash the plant, my soil, and the pot it is planted in to minimize my risk of the fungus spreading further in my yard. My tomato plant will die and I feel so ashamed ....
